This is a 5 - day intense workshop to design and construct a parametric brick wall. In this workshop, you will learn to generate parametric models, to utilize rapid prototyping tools and to combine digital fabrication strategies with traditional construction methods. We will then work on a materialization strategy to build the parametric brick constructions in full-scale using actual bricks and mortar.
Workshop Details:
The workshop is open to all students, and is limited to 30 participants. While no prior knowledge in software is necessary, a previous experience with Rhino and Grasshopper will be helpful.
Process:
The participants will be divided into groups of 3-5 depending on the total number of participants. There will be lectures on computational methods, and tutorials on Rhino and Grasshopper. Participants will work both with physical prototypes and parametric models in developing their designs. We will then select one proposal to build using brick and mortar.
Installation Location and Details:
The brick constructions will be built in the campus of Universidad Nacional de Asuncion.
